When To Use This
Use Today View when staff need to monitor the current operating day from the Schedule page: arrivals, live rooms and fields, checked-out dogs, staff coverage, and shift checklist work.
Before You Start
- Sign in to the staff app for the correct business.
- Confirm the date before taking day-of action.
- Use a staff account with attendance access before checking dogs in, checking dogs out, moving dogs, or correcting attendance.
- Follow business policy for no-show, absence, checkout, closeout, capacity, vaccination, and customer communication decisions.
Schedule Page And Today View
Today View is the current-day version of the Schedule page. The visible page may say Schedule in navigation and Today in the page header; treat them as the same daily operations board.
Use the date controls to return to Today if another day is selected. Older Today and Employee Operations shortcuts now open the Schedule page instead of separate workspaces. If an older shortcut drops filters or context, open Schedule and choose Today again.
Daily Board Sections
Review the summary cards first, then work through the board sections:
- Waiting arrivals: dogs expected but not yet checked in.
- Fields and rooms: dogs currently checked in and their visible placement.
- Checked-out dogs: dogs that have already left for the day.
- All dogs: the day directory for search and quick review.
Rooms marked as a Today priority stay open near the top. Any other room also opens automatically while a dog is checked in there, then returns to Other fields and rooms after its last dog leaves. An occupied room should never be hidden behind the collapsed group.
When a booked dog is checked in without another room being chosen, Today uses the business's priority room by default. If staff choose a different room, that choice is kept and the occupied room opens automatically on the board.
Search by dog name, family, breed, service, or the household's phone number or email address when a dog is not visible. Formatting does not matter for a phone number: (530) 555-0134 and 5305550134 find the same household. Enter at least four digits, because an area code on its own does not match. To narrow by area, use the area filter rather than search.
Dog Cards And Day-Of Actions
Select a dog card to open the side sheet before taking action. The side sheet can show day-of context, attendance actions, room or field movement, and a link to the full dog profile. Vaccination status is shown in a separate board-level view, not the per-dog side sheet.
When a boarding booking includes recorded reservation add-ons that have not been canceled, its dog card also shows the recorded care choice, exact compact date range, and total. Use that line as day-of context; edit the booking from the booking workflow if the care plan itself needs to change.
Only use the actions that match the dog's visible state. For example, check-in actions apply before or during arrival, checkout applies after a dog is checked in, and closeout or correction actions should follow the business owner's approved process.
Undo An Accidental Check-In
If staff check in the wrong dog, open that checked-in dog's side sheet and choose Undo check-in. Check out remains the main action. Undo is a separate corrective action below the normal visit controls.
The confirmation names the dog and family, plus the recorded check-in time, service, and current area. Review those facts, then choose Undo check-in again to confirm. No reason is required.
Undo applies only to an active, single-day checked-in visit. A booked dog returns to Waiting to arrive. An accidental drop-in leaves the active board. The canceled visit stays in attendance history. Staff can then use the normal check-in flow for the correct dog. Undo never changes the original visit's dog.
Undo does not change any charge. If the visit already has a charge, or belongs to a multi-day boarding stay, nothing changes. The message directs staff to review the visit in Dogs before correcting attendance.
Review Check-Outs That Still Need Attention
When a recent earlier visit still shows a dog as checked in, Today View shows a compact Needs attention · N action near the top of the page. Choose it to open a focused check-out review page. The daily roster stays uncluttered.
The review page shows the dog, family, service, visit date or boarding end date, and how long each check-in has remained open.
Choose Review checkout to open that dog's original visit in a drawer over the Needs attention list. The review link does not change attendance or billing, and the queue remains behind the drawer while you review the visit. Confirm what happened, then use the normal explicit checkout or correction action only when the record should be changed. Closing the visit drawer leaves you on Needs attention. After a successful checkout, the refreshed list removes the resolved visit. An active boarding stay is not treated as a missed checkout before its recorded end date.
Check In Or Check Out Several Dogs
When at least one dog is eligible, Today shows Check in dogs · N or Check out dogs · N near the top of the page. The launcher takes you to the matching photo roster with nothing selected yet. Tap each dog you want to include, or use Select all to include every eligible dog at once, then use the counted Check in (N) or Check out (N) action at the bottom to save the attendance changes.
The top launcher starts selection only. It does not change attendance by itself. If no dogs are eligible for an action, that launcher is not shown.
Shift Checklist
If the signed-in staff member has a linked employee record and checklist items for the day, Today View can show checklist work on the Schedule page. Older Employee Operations links should be treated as shortcuts back to this daily board.
If checklist items are missing, confirm the staff member is signed in to the right business and ask an owner or admin to review employee setup before treating the checklist as a product issue.
When Today's View Looks Wrong
- If the board does not match the expected day, use the date controls and select Today.
- If an older shortcut drops filters, reopen Schedule and reapply the date, area, dog, or search filter.
- If a dog is not visible, clear filters and search by dog, family, breed, service, phone, or email.
- If an attendance action is missing, first confirm the dog is in the right visible state for that action.
- If Undo check-in is missing, confirm the dog is actively checked in and the visit is not a multi-day boarding stay. Checked-out, completed, canceled, and no-show visits do not offer this shortcut.
- If Undo reports an existing charge or multi-day stay, review the visit in Dogs. Do not expect Undo to change billing.
- If a multi-dog launcher is missing, no visible dog may currently be eligible for that action.
- If Needs attention · N appears, open it and review the dog and original
visit date before correcting it. Do not infer a checkout time only from the alert.
- If the action should be available but is still missing, ask an owner or admin to review attendance access on the Access page.
